Mobile Apps and Companies Recognized at SIIA Conference

The annual Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) Information Industry Summit conference wrapped up last week, and several mobile apps and companies were recognized during the SIIA Previews where early stage content companies and mobile app developers were given an opportunity to present their offerings to a panel of industry leaders.
Mobile App Previews
This year marked the first time SIIA Previews included a separate mobile apps category. Scott Livingston of LexisNexis presented the LexisNexis Legal News app, which was developed by Newstex. You can get all of the details about the presented mobile apps here.

Company Previews
The SIIA Previews for content industry companies celebrated its sixth anniversary in 2012. Larry Schwartz, Newstex President and SIIA Previews Chair, was on hand to participate in the sessions and to present the “Most Likely to Succeed” award to BestVendor — a company that helps business people make smarter and faster purchasing decisions through social recommendations. Present Your Mobile App at the 2012 SIIA Previews – Deadline Coming!

The deadline to apply to present your mobile app to an audience of media executives is coming! All applications are due by December 16, 2011, so hurry and submit yours here.

MobileApp Previews will debut at the 2012 Software &Information Industry’s 11th annual Information Industry Summit, which will be held in New York City on January 24 and 25, 2012. The MobileApp Previews event was created to highlight mobile apps for the content and content-related industry, such as news, finance, reference, and publishing apps.
Selected applicants will have an opportunity to provide 5-minute demos of their apps to an audience of potential partners, investors, influencers, and customers. Following each presentation, there will be a 5-minute Q&A session. Presenting companies also get special promotion on the Information Industry Summit conference website as well as a 20-minute feedback session with the application selection committee.
To be eligible, your company must have an iOS app (iPad, iPhone or iTouch) that has been approved and is available in the Apple App store at the time of your application or will be available by January 1, 2012.

Apply to Present Your Mobile App to B2B Media Execs at the 2012 SIIA Previews

Did you want to get a chance to show off your content or content-related app to an audience of media executives and influencers? You can apply to do exactly that at the Software & Information Industry Association’s (SIIA) 11th annual Information Industry Summit, which is being held in New York City from January 24-25, 2012. It’s a great way to give your mobile app the jump start it needs!
You can apply now to participate in the Information Industry Summit’s all-new MobileApp Previews program. If you’re application is selected, you’ll get to present your content or content-related app to an audience of potential partners, customers, acquirers, investors, bloggers/media, and other industry influencers. It’s an amazing opportunity that could make a huge difference to your app’s success.
There is no application fee to enter, but the deadline is coming up on December 16. Also, if you’re selected to present at the SIIA Previews, you will need to register to attend the Summit.
The SIIA Previews have helped many content and content-related companies jump start their paths to success. For example, former presenters include Jigsaw (which was acquired by Salesforce.com), Generate, Inc. (which was purchased by Dow Jones), FeeDisclosure (which was purchased by Bankrate), Keibi (which was purchased by Lithium Technologies), and Associated Content (which closed $6 million in series C funding after presenting at the SIIA Previews).
By presenting your mobile app at the first MobileApps Preview program, you could find similar success. Here’s what you get if your application is selected and you have the opportunity to present in January:
- Present a 5-minute demo of your app in front of an audience of industry influencers and leaders.
- Participate in 5 minutes of Q&A following your presentation.
- Participate in a 20-minute feedback session with the selection committee.

SIIA Previews Now Accepting Applications for 2012 SIIA Information Summit Presentations

Entries for the 2012 SIIA Previews is now open. If you’re looking for growth capital, strategic partnerships or an exit strategy, you can apply to present before an audience of prospective partners, customers, investors, acquirers and other deal-makers at the 11th annual Information Industry Summit, January 24-25, 2012, in New York City. New for the 2012 SIIA Previews is the MobileApps Previews for mobile application developers (details are included later in this article).
The Information Industry Summit audience includes 300 C-level and VP-level executives from the industry’s leading information and content technology companies, as well as the bankers, analysts, bloggers and press who support the industry.
SIIA Previews Application and Benefits
The Summit’s Previews sessions showcase innovative B2B content companies – publishers, content aggregators, and technology plays — with under $10M in revenue. A panel of judges will select from the submitted applications and each chosen company will provide a 5-minute presentation followed by a 5-minute question and answer session at the 2012 SIIA Information Industry Summit. Previous SIIA Previews presenters have included:

- Associated Content: closed $6 Million in Series C Funding
- FeeDisclosure: purchased by Bankrate

There is no fee to apply, but the deadline is coming up on November 18. You can access the application here. Specifically, chosen companies get the following benefits:
- The company CEO will provide a 5-minute presentation followed by 5-minutes of Q&A.
- The company gets a table-top exhibit display for 30-minutes during the conference break following its presentation so they can speak directly with prospective partners and investors.
- The company will be promoted on the Information Industry Summit conference website and in the Summit program.
- The company gets an invaluable 20-minute feedback session with the steering committee.
All SIIA Previews application submissions must be made from companies that provide content or content technology products or services, have received no more than a Series A round of financing, generate no more than $10 million in sales, and have actual customers. Those selected for participation will be notified by December 9 and a participation fee of $850 must be paid by December 12.

SIIA NetGain 2011 Road Trip for Innovation Coming to Boston

The 2011 SIIA NetGain conference is scheduled for May 17-18, 2011 and will be held in Boston.
SIIA NetGain is a 2-day executive level conference hosted by the Software & Information Industry and focused on innovation in the information industry. Attendees spend the first day of the conference learning about innovative business models, products and technologies, and the second day is spent visiting content innovators in the Boston area.
The 2011 SIIA NetGain conference in Boston will also include a speed networking event to kick-off the conference, a variety of speakers, and an SIIA Previews event where some of the Boston area’s most innovative early-stage content and content-technology providers will have the opportunity to deliver 5-minute presentations followed by 5-minutes of Q&A and a 20-minute feedback session with the steering committee.
